A Day at Work

A early start at 8am today...but a really nice day with happy clients...did I let you know I am a hairstylist? well it was a good day and with clients who wanted a change...so even more satisfying..
But Rotary had to be sorted too...we have a Service Fayre tomorrow at Swansea Metropolitan University, so I needed to get some things together so people would know which room to go to...wouldn't want someone who thinks they were going to a Youth Session to land up in Membership or vice versa...would we?
In our District are 1950 Rotarians but this time only 5% of them have booked to come and learn more, such a shame as we have some really good speakers for the day....and Lunch there is great...I might start doing a Mike..and photograph my food as a record! Mike has this on his blog all the time...you might meet him tomorrow if I can get his picture....Mike by the way is to be District Governor after me so he should feature some what on this blog as we will be travelling the same Journey 12 months apart...

the Rotary logo...

Rotarians will be found wearing a small lapel pin with this Roundel on to represent their pride of being in such an organisation.

Planning visit in Plymouth

Conference in 2010 is in Plymouth, so the conference team are starting of as they mean to go on, working for a fun filled weekend...
Howard Hughes from The Rotary Club of Machen is the Conference Chairman, Kelly Truan is our link and friend at the Plymouth Pavillions and she is getting into the fun element, Then Christine Bayliss from the Rotary Club of Brynmawr is the Conference Registrar, Then ME and last but not least Alan Thorpe of the Rotary Club of Abertillery and Blaina who is the Conference Secretary...missing from this visit was Philip the Conference Treasurer and Bill our PRO and IT man...you will meet them in the future...

Why tell the story?

Well here we are...on a life enhancing and life changing journey, where I can tell you about friends I already know and those I will make along the way.
My Friends will also be invited to join us on this journey with their own perceptions of the journey, so you should meet them as well..
My Journey really started 11 years ago when I joined the Rotary Club of Brynmawr which is in South Wales...that was life changing in itself....more about that when I introduce those friends...
But for now the blog is to follow and mark the journey...of becoming the District Governor for District 1150......now in non Rotary Language, as that's not going to mean anything to anyone who knows nothing of Rotary!.....basically Rotary in GB and I is segmented into 29 Districts and each District has a person in charge for one year...like a Captain of the ship...but Rotary calls the captain A District Governor...their Deputy is The District Governor Elect and then the next in line is District Governor Nominee...That's ME at present.....and I am proud to let you know I'm the first female Rotarian In Wales to do that role....so its a great journey....
So follow us all on this wonderful experience...its going to be full of fun and learning and I hope you will see a non stuffy view of how Rotary really is great for Professionals and Business Owners throughout the world...and maybe make you want to find out more about it at your local level....
So please page mark us and follow the journey...
