What a day....very little Rotary...the rugby now is rubbish and I was quiet in work....so I worked on the wedding....but I had a quote for the wedding invites!!..Nearly had to call an ambulance! even Stephanie was on the floor and that says something when she's spending mam and dads money....oh well only one daughter so that should help...or will the boys expect the same......someone call that ambulance afterall......xx

Next trick is do a deal with the hotel...so off to lunch there on Sunday..see what I can do with my Arthur hat on!!!!

what a day

Photocopying 500 copies of a 6 page book on a personal printer is not to be recommended...one week later and it was finished perhaps I should be grateful it was snowing as the staff had a production line going! many mistakes later...all done....

But with clients to do, books to make and about 4 inches of snow I was late leaving for the Senydd where Rotary In Southern Wales was hosting a Thanks for Life stand...it was wonderful, but I missed meeting Glynn my colleague from North Wales and his wife Angela as well as our own DG Bob...but never mind the rest of the team were still in place and were working really hard...a VERY good effort I think and one I hope we can do again next year.

Cardiff to Merthyr drive home was a breeze..Merthyr to Ebbw Vale was okay...Ebbw Vale to Brynmawr....a nightmare....OMG!

In Brynmawr just in time to chair a Business forum meeting...chairing a bit of a mixed meeting as we are against the proposed new development that is another threat to our little town...fight begins.....so few calls to make tomorrow...

My Club meeting ..I was late! and we had to meet in Abergavenny at the Presidents home...so made me even more late! no snow in Abergavenny though.....coming home it has to be said was not good though...rds were a mess...where were the gritters???????

But after the Club meeting I had a conference meeting with Chris as she is the Conference Registrar...great news only 40 bedrooms left for the conference hotel....so I am really pleased with the Hotel prize draw incentive...

Anyway good nights sleep needed...the year is going so quickly and it is a bit scary, but mixed with excitement trepeidation and anticipation....wow!!!!!

And the Day was good

Friday was a bit of a mixed bag! Work issues, interviewing, snow and cancelled appointments...a day in the life of a Hairsalon owner! But all ended well...Think we have the new receptionist..will tell them on Saturday and the News on the Rotary front was getting better...we now have a Full committee for PR Communication and Information...well done Bob....nearly there for most others too...Just need a few more dates finalised and the year will be nearly good...

Maybe a chaufeur, maid, secretary, cook and bottle washer could be added to the list of needs....but hey!!!! what it is to dream........ 

A busy week

The Rotary Club Of Newports 90th anniversary...what a lunch and celebration well done every one and lets look forward to the next 90 years. The photo shows a very surprised Rotarian being honoured with a PHF..which is one of our high accolades in Rotary in these island...well done..

So its a really busy week of phone calling setting up the Official Visits to the clubs from July 1st...avoiding an important date...my daughters wedding in August...she will be cross when she realises I have booked visits that week!!!! must be organised for the wedding before DG year starts me thinks!!!

Anyway more than 2/3rd's of the way sorted and may even get the rest sorted over the weekend..I am amazed how a diary fills and how so many clubs meeting on the same time of the week causes problems....but so far the last visit is 6th December 2010...so I can then get ready for Xmas! Oh my god...Feb and planning Christmas...I am now officially mad....not sad!   

The Snow in Brynmawr by the way reached about 5 inches yesterday...so much for it having ruined January sales of the business it now wants Feb as well.....well off to interview Receptionists this morning...see if they get through the snow...first test of their day I think!

Half way there..no-one told me this bit was this hard!!!!!...spoke to some really nice people today and it makes you smile, laugh and cry!!!!!...then thump yourself occasionally to make sure you really are 'real' for doing this as a hobby!!!!  I love it all and I am learning new things everyday..

........and lets face it I am a lucky old girl having Steve to support me when the going gets Tough!!!!

Valentines Day

A lovely day..relaxing with both computers around me and the love of my life....no not Rotary......Steve...xxx

Phone calls made to Presidents Elect and lots more to be made, to get the Official Visit Dates organised.

It was good to call PDG Adrian Cornellius as I had heard via my daughter Steph, that he had been poorly and after talking to him and Pat he had....but he is slowly on the mend now and that was good news...He is still working hard for the Joshua Foundation though so that was also good to hear.

Nice meal out with my hubbie and then home to chat to DGN Mike...good catching up session as we hadn't spoken for weeks....Mike you will enjoy this arranging things its good fun if not a bit stressful at times....but its Great talking to so many people who are as committed to the organisation as us...Thanks all....

Preparations.....

So....whats to do next....letters in post for RIBI assembly...few more phone calls and the Rotary list for today will be complete....real paid work seems to be happening along side my daily lists so thats great too...as we obviously need the 'dosh' to do the DG role! So better go and do a few more hair cuts...

I was supposed to have been in Abergavenny to support The Zone 7 Youth Speaks final...but my Little Sister arrived, and as I haven't seen her since Christmas I had to stay in the salon and spend time with her....and do her Hair!!!! then we went for a meal to catch up some more

I am sorry to have missed the young people but loved spending time with little Sis and can't wait to go home to B'ham to see them all in two weeks...my little great nephew should have been born by then!

Wednesday 10th Feb

Well a Busy morning...cleaning up after my club went! work and a conference meeting with Howard the chairman and Alan the secretary...good meeting and got lots sorted..Thanks both

Then Off to the DoctorBank Meeting in Cardiff which was great to catch up on what lies ahead, and again some conference discussion as RDB will feature at conference...lovely cake and homemade biscuits from Arthurs Wife Ann...so big thankyou for helping me break my diet this week all... 

Tuesday Evening...a great Rotary night

Tonight the club and partners as well as an Honorary member met at our home, for a Thankyou from me for their help and support. We had a great night of friendship and shared plans for them assisting me in the next Rotary year...Thanks all for coming along, I may not have a large home, but our modest home is full of welcome and love and you are welcome anytime...so long as you leave me a little bit of wine to enjoy after you have gone...xxxx

A week at home and work

Well its back to normal...busy at work, Rotary and housework....
Now its Sunday evening and its catch up time as I was rota'd to work today!...who does the rota?!?! OKAY I MESSED UP!!!!!

Anyway its a busy week ahead and Rotary is seeming to be Top of the list!...so I will sign in and add info later this week....

Back to real Rotary.... Tuesday Feb 2nd

I went to my own club today for Lunch, I hadn't been there since Christmas!...It was great to meet up with my colleagues and plan for the next few weeks...and catch up on how bad the weather had been here! None the less they had undertaken planning for the weeks ahead and we worked out some new things to do for the time ahead...so its all go and next week we meet for a social meeting as well as some Business at my home, so Steve will be busy cooking Tuesday! I will also address them about ideas to help the 2010-11 Rotary Year...as well as show of photos I had taken in San Diego....I might bore them to sleep though! Another job for Steve to make the laptop speak to the television....

Monday 1st Feb..White Rabbit!

Well today was the first day of back to it! Perhaps a little too early, Steve and I were still talking at 4am...couldn't sleep! blooming jet lag! I was to be in court at 10am today...woke up 8.45am!...out house by 9.05 in car which needed defrosting!....hit traffic jams....as accident on A470 and everyone was taking A479....OHHHHHHHH!!!!! In Caerphilly court house at 10.20! But I wasn't only one who was late and it wasn't thanks to the jet lag!...Steve in the meantime has gone to the Drs as he really isn't well....Dr says he has the flu...and as I have been feeling!!!! I hope he keeps it all to himself instead of sharing as he normally does!

Anyway I hope I sleep tonight and feel a bit like finishing off the unpacking and putting the cases away tomorrow...but was it all worth it...Yes It was...Back to my own club tomorrow lunch time so better find my bannerettes and get them ready to take with me and greetings from other clubs....

I am really feeling this is like a dream but a good dream and one where we will show how Rotary Builds Communities and Bridges Continents...but in the meantime the Future of Rotary is in our Hands so we better get on and handle it with love and affection and show others why we all do what we do....Hands up if your up for the challenge....xxxx
