The Rotary Club of Abertillery Presidential Handover

I was delighted to attend the Abertillery Handover on Friday 26th June. The evening was spent with a lovely group of people and their partners who are committed to helping their community. Steve and I thoroughly enjoyed the food, speeches and laughter. Outgoing President John who is with the Fire Service had had a wonderful year and Incoming President Mike told of his plans for the year which certainly will keep them all busy.

Thanks all for a Brilliant Night.

A week of Rotary

Well the time is certainly going quick and there is lots going on and lots to do;
This week I have had meetings for planning, a lovely Wednesday afternoon where the sun was shining was spent with PDG J.C Williams from Llanelli who is going to be my Training adviser and we had to get going on just that, so lots done in a two hour slot.

I spent Saturday night at a Help For Heroes evening in Abertillery as booking the groups for entertainment means you need to hear them....trouble is I think I had had a bit to much enjoyment from the evening!
So Rotary is enjoyable....And diverse...and FUN....

Three Peaks Success

The Retained Firefighters from Brynmawr have finished the Three Peaks Challenge, Scotland, England and Wales in 18.5 hrs achieving a Gold Award and raising money for the firefighters charity...Well Done Lads....of course I'm a really proud Mum all the Time, but I'm mega proud at this achievement as My younger son is one of the Firefighters who achieved this..In a era of time where Volunteering and undertaking selfless acts is not 'cool' I'm chuffed that these Lads know how important it is to be part of their community in the real sense of local and national needs.
If you want to make a donation to the Firefighters Charity, Donations to recognise your support to these lads can be given at Kutz N Kurlz in Brynmawr and at Beatties Barbers Brynmawr...From all of us, Well Done Lads, The Town is Proud of you All, but from your Mum and Dad - ''Shane We are tremendously Proud of all your accomplishments..Well Done..xx''

Thanks Shane for a cracking Christmas Present...no your not going mad...it was a holiday in Zante for June and we just got back...had time to relax and plan for the next steps in this journey...can't make the RI Convention which is a shame but Mikes there so I'll keep up with his blog on whats going on...glad he was heading for Yardley..my home ground..but not the same any more, the Swan Pub was great in the late 70's early 80's its not the same now its offices!

Well Claytons' year as District Governor has flown by and Bob is nearly there now...so it frightening to realise how quickly time is flying by...made a promise to get good at this Blog updating and be more vigilant about it...
